Dec 7, 2017 路 Dec 7, 2017. #10. Generally a 0W-30 will be a higher quality base oil for a given specification over 5W-30, as it must meet tougher cold temperature tests. This is part of the reason why they cost more. Last edited: Dec 7, 2017.
Oct 22, 2021 路 Since the 0W30 oil is more viscous, it may evaporate quickly at a higher temperature. However, owing to the slightly thicker consistency, the oils with 5W30 attributes will handle high temperatures well. So, the latter oil will be better for places with warmer weather.
Oct 27, 2015 路 The interesting thing about the test is that it shows the Mobil 1, 0w20 actually has a considerably higher film strength than the Mobil 1, 0w30 and nearly the same strength as the Mobil 1, 5w20. Mobil 1, 5w30 comes out slightly better, but not THAT much better.
Sep 25, 2019 路 I read through my manual and it states that 0w20 Toyota C5 oil is recommended and 0w30 is tolerated. I have read people using 5w30 by Liquid Moly. Also, a B58 engine usually runs on 5w30. So I don't know why toyota is recommending only 0w20( I called Toyota Canada and they said 0w16 could be a suitable replacement as well to not void warranties).
Nov 12, 2021 路 14. Nov 12, 2021. #1. Mobil 1 AFE 0W30 (SN/GF-5) used to have an impressive MRV of 13250 @ -40C and a pour point of -50C, so I bought some, not realizing I got the newer SP/GF-6A formula. I was very surprised to find out that the new version has a pour point of only -42C (-39C according to the MSDS) and no longer lists the MRV (obviously
